The Hawaii State Senate just approved a bill to allow all loving and committed couples to marry. The House has already passed it and Governor Neil Abercrombie is expected to sign the bill into law – which will mean weddings can begin on December 2.

This is another chapter in an exciting string of victories this year. But more than that, it’s proof that hard work, long-term dedication, and the support of individuals from around the country can make the difference when it comes to securing basic rights for loving couples.

There are now 16 states with marriage equality, and they all deserve to be recognized for leading the way.
